Charlie and Nancy Cooper started planting Christmas Trees in 2001 and have planted as many as 1600 seedlings per year, providing a wide variety of trees of various sizes to choose from. Prior to being a Christmas tree farm, the property was an apple orchard and, for a short time, an alfalfa field.
The tree farm is where Charlie grew up and where Charlie and Nancy moved 23 years ago to get away from the more hectic lifestyle in the Seattle area. Nancy was a retired teacher, having finished her last few teaching years at Entiat High School. Charlie recently retired a third (and final) time from banking. They both got a kick out running the tree farm together throughout the year.
Nancy passed away unexpectedly in December of 2012. Nancy and Charlie's kids, Molly and Jeff, stepped in as partners in Hog Hollow Farm at that time. Nancy was the heart of this tree farm and put her all into it. It is now the family's goal to continue to fulfill her dream of providing a fun place for families and friends to share the Christmas spirit, find joy in the outdoors, and hunt down the perfect, reasonably-priced tree to bring back to their homes.
Come on up and let us be a part of your holiday tradition - we can't wait to see you!
Please reach out to us at hoghollowfarm@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Make a fresh cut on the bottom of the tree after you get it home. Use a stand that holds liquid and make sure there is always water in it. A commercial tree preservative, which can be purchased in our gift shop, will help keep the needles where they belong: on the tree!
We plant up to 1,600 seedlings each year, and it takes approximately 7 years for each seedling to grow into a 6-foot tree.
Yes! There is a scenic hay ride in to the farm. We have a gift shop every year that includes gifts, tree care and disposal items and decorations. There is always a bonfire going for roasting marshmallows and warming hands. Our guests are always offered free hot coffee, hot chocolate and candy canes.
The friendly staff at Hog Hollow Farm will transport your tree to the car and load it up and tie it down. We have all the supplies needed to make sure your tree makes it home with
We will provide hand saws if you want to cut your own tree. If that doesn't appeal to you, give us a holler and we'll cut it down with a chainsaw for you!
You betcha! In addition to trees we also have decorated and plain wreaths, swags and a variety of Christmas decorations.
We open the Friday after Thanksgiving and are open every weekend from then until Christmas. 10am-4pm unless we run out of trees early (which is possible so please check our Facebook page and website for our current status). We have hay bale rides behind the tractor, a gift shop, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows - bring the whole family!
